Tangerine is my weapon of choice

February 21st 2007

Avid readers may remember one of my older entries in which I expressed my love for Tangerine from Potionfactory, a handy little helper app for iTunes (only on OS X I’m afraid) to calculate your BPM and make playlists based on BPM and beat intensity, especially good for working out.

I have now taken the plunge and bought the app for a measly $ 24,95, so far it seems like well spent $, Tangerine integrates very well with iTunes and comes up with pretty good playlists that lets you rediscover your music.

And in my humble opinion, the GUI doesn’t look to shabby either, bravo Potionfactory!

While agreeing whith all of the above, I do have one issue. On my library of about 125 GB of MP3s, Tangerine was both slow, and crashed a couple of times before being successful. I think that Potionfactory should probably take another look at string management and performance…and test the app a bit more before releasing it.

And I agree with you on that point, but if I can remember correctly you tried it in beta? It works ‘flawless’ on both my lossless and my aac collection, but it ain’t quick…
