More new web 2.0 services!

February 27th 2007

OK, these are not excactly new services, not to the eager surfer at least, but still…

First, trig.com. Ever heard about myspace? Yeah, figured so…. Trig is a better looking version of the latter, but I frankly fail to see any other reasons to sign up (which I have done though, but purely for research…). My biggest blocker is that in order to show off your beautiful and artsy photos you have to upload them to trig instead of using flickr’s API, and flickr is far superior in functionality, usability and sexyness… And the story goes on with the rest of the features, the whole site is very closed in my opinion, though I haven’t really dived into it deep yet…

But one thing I like so much more is Joost! In their own words:

Joostâ„¢ is a new way of watching TV on the internet, which uses new and established technologies to provide the best of both the internet and TV worlds. We’re in the process of making it as TV-like as we can, with programmes, channels and adverts. You can also see some things that we think will enhance the TV experience: searching for programmes and channels, for example, as well as social features like chat.

And it really works pretty good! The programming isn’t quite up there yet, but I like what I see, and even in these beta-times it is quite stable on my MacTel! These is one service you should try out! Let me know if you need an invite! ;-)

Oh, and the people behind Joost is the same as the much hyped Skype, so they should know what they are doing.

Hm, seems like I don’t have invites yet… I need to ‘earn’ them, but you can also sign up for the beta here: https://www.joost.com/apply.html
